The original weatherboard clad dwelling was to be retained whilst constructing additions to the rear to allow for modern living and a new verandah to the front. However, it was found that the house was held together principally by a combination of paint and cobwebs. As a result, council allowed us to completely demolish the old beach shack and reconstruct. It presents to the street exactly as it always did, but with the addition of the front verandah/ entry porch.
This was fortuitous as it allowed us to be a bit more creative with the internal as[pects of the front rooms, in particular to create dramatic high raked ceilings that come as a fabulous surprise as you step through the front door.
The extensions at the rear allow for kitchen, study, master bedroom and al fresco dining all with prefect due north aspect. The interiors thoughtfully and imaginatively designed by Abeo Interiors.
Originally conceived as a "weekender" it is now the permanent residence for the well chuffed owners.
